Mobile Iron DJ – HTTP://M.IRONDJ.NET

m.irondj.net_bb

You may have herd, IRON DJ MOBILE is here! At Iron DJ we strive to create a music and event promotion platform that will change the industry forever. The first step in this process was to simply make the music available to the masses. This initial step has been executed to some extent, however many improvements are still needed to be made. Now we present Mobile Iron DJ to give you a new way to access content on-the-go. We think this feature will also help set Iron DJ apart from all the other music and file delivery services like mediafire, and soundcloud.

To use Mobile Iron DJ simply point your cell phone web browser to: http://m.irondj.net and boom! Our development team designed the site to work on all web enabled cellphones. There are no apps to install, and the site loads extremely quickly. Direct links allow you to download mp3s directly to your phone. Here is a quick overview of the current features…

  • Super fast page loading! You wanted to get the music as fast as humanly possible? This is the reason we did not put any images or other shit on the pages to slow you down.
  • Easy NavigationWe put in nice big brightly colored links for those fat little fingers of yours.
  • Global searchEnter any term and it will search for any artists/uploader, and title. (Yes its even better and faster than the web version)
  • 320p WideIf you have a smart phone / iphone / fancy pants phone this page is going to fit perfectly and look great. Don’t worry if you have a phone with a smaller screen it will work just fine on you too (see crappy cell phone photo above).

As of right now the mobile site consists of one page. We are still in the process of getting the rest of the pages (user show, mix show, etc) online. Expect many more features for the mobile site. We plan on adding full functionality, including upload ability, streaming audio, SMS alerts and much more.

As far as the web version of Iron DJ is concerned we have many upcoming features. We are going to be rolling out an amazing EVENT PROMOTION service that will allow promoters to post event information. Unlike other event websites (such as going and sfstation, etc) Iron DJ is taking this concept to the NEXT LEVEL by giving you the ability to attach rich media to your event posting, we also plan to offer twitter, email, and rss integration. Another upcoming feature to look for will be a musician booking service.

Summer, Please Don’t Go

CIMG1643

The days may still be long but the summer is mostly cold here in the city of San Francisco, which has led to may excursions to the north bay to take in nature, pools and solid 90 degree temperatures. Thanks to contributions from IRONDJ friends: Notable Andrew from Stoneyroads (cheers from down under!) While browsing my many sources for new or hard to find house bangers, I came up on quite alot of ear candy for you to enjoy, spin or just dance to.

angry_wolf

I’m going to start out with Mr. Wolfgang Gartner. Despite the very Germanic name, he actually hails from Austin, Texas, and has been producing records since some of you readers were coloring shapes. It was not until he adopted the persona of Wolfgang did his true electro roots emerge. It seems like one after the other his tracks and remixes are gaining ground, whether it be on the Beatport charts or in the multitude of DJ sets being spun around the world. The following tracks are stellar, with the originals Flashback and Montezuma being staples of my alternating sets. Prepare your ears for the onslaught- it gets heavy

Get Ya Prog On

Sunday, June 21st, 2009

san-francisco-skyline-at-night

So on this lazy Sunday night I decided to spend some time messing around on one of my many mixing programs. I have to say its twice as hard without a physical mixer, especially because I only have one independent audio output (I messed up 3-4 times, not badly tho), but it didn’t stop me from cutting a nice nighttime “prog-ish” mix. So without further ado, here is a rough cut mix that might ease your ability to sleep. I know I will be playing it later tonight.

UPDATE (11:08pm) Don’t know why I through that Tiga track in, just felt like it would work

Tracklist
1. BSOD- Better Sounding On Drugs (original mix) brokenfixie edit
2. Tiga- Mind Dimension (Soulwax edit)
3. Adam K & Soha- I Like Rhythm (brokenfixie edit)\
4. Kaskade- Angel On My Shoulder (Edx’s Belo Horizonte At Night Remix)
6. Sebastien Leger & Chris Lake- Aqualight (brokenfixie edit)

Craw

Iron Dj System Update

Monday, May 4th, 2009

If your a fan of the iron dj music platform you might notice a few new changes…

  • Access to track/mix pages without login
  • IMPROVED EMBED on track/mix page
  • When uploading new tracks you will notice a check box to make the distinction between original tracks/mixes and re-posts. At IronDJ we feel it is important to respect the rights of the original creators. If you do not have the consent of the creator to re-post their work we do not want it on IronDJ. (Most DJ’s make themselves very available!)
  • New cover art for tracks/mixes.

Here are some examples of the new embed stezz…

Radiohead – Paranoid Android (Gareth Pearson Arrangement)

IRON DJ / MP3 / VOTE

DJ Mehdi – Lucky Boy (Outlines Remix)

IRON DJ / MP3 / VOTE

THE D.O.C. – GORILLA PIMPIN

IRON DJ / MP3 / VOTE

Passion Pit – Sleepyhead

Craw’s EXCLUSIVE IRON DJ interview with DJ Troy Kurtz!

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009
2638_604641137257_10620177_37802563_4083216_n
In my first installment of Craw’s exclusive interviews, I profile IRON DJ friend DJ Troy Kurtz of Miami FL. A former resident DJ at Heathrow and more currently at Bella Rose, Troy has DJ’ed with the likes of Devlin & Darko, Steve Aoki, The Bloody Beetroots & Alan Braxe.
What made you decide to start DJing clubs in the first place?

Miami is an interesting place for nightlife… you have the guidos, the latinos, the locals, the tweens, the UM kids, the models, the hipsters & the rappers. But every single club was/is just way too much regaeton, too much top 40, and too much “world hold on”. Straight nonsense and a lot of people were just over the whole scene. I thought to myself, stop whining about it and do something.

Who would you consider a big influence in your style/set selection/equipment choice?

I owe pretty much everything to my buddy out in LA named Trevor, aka BONES. He showed me the ropes last summer and got me super inspired to get started when I got back to Florida. If it wasn’t for him, I’d probably never be DJing right now.

Author’s note: BONES, aka Trevor Moffit, is also a friend of IDJ and can be found over at Gotta Dance Dirty

Traktor/Serato/Abelton- what works for you & why?

Traktor. Read above.

Where was your first gig, and what was it like?

My first gig was at Heathrow, which is a relatively new club on South Beach (I later ended up being a resident there for a few months) I had been pumping it up the whole week before the gig to all of my friends, so of course they all came. But when I got there I didn’t have the right cables to hook-up and I felt like an idiot. Amateur hour to the max.

What was your initial setup, and looking back, what did it lack?

Mac Powerbook G4 and an old version of Traktor. It lacked some serious hard drive space. Bitch was so slow.

What is your current setup?

MacBook Pro, DJM 800, Numark DJ IO soundcard, Traktor

Favorite DJ (s) out right now:

Bloody Beetroots, AC Slater, Diplo, Designer Drugs

Favorite track so far this year?

Mystery Jets – Two Doors Down (Duke Dumont Remix)

Favorite producer 2008/09
Diplo

Favorite remixer (if different from producer)

AC Slater

How was this years WMC now that you have steady gigs?

WMC was looney tunes. It’s really fun because I’m so new and I’m soaking it all in, meeting DJ’s I really look up to and listen to every day. It also helped that I had crazy access to some pretty special shows. The last night of WMC (Sunday) Bloody Beetroots and Steve Aoki played a secret show at Bella Rose, which is the smallest/yet most legit joint on South Beach. It was the epitome of rad.

What do you think is your best memory of any of your gigs?

Just two months ago I became resident at Bella Rose and the first few Saturday nights were slllaammmmeeedddd (capacity of the club is like 200 and we pretty much doubled it). I’d play from open at 11pm straight through to close at 4am, so I practically played every track on my computer. Everything from disco to dubsteb. But at like 3-3:30 I would just start dropping the noisiest bangers and everyone inside was losing it, just ripping the paint off the walls. Epic stuff.

Any tips/tricks for aspiring dj’s out there?

Believe in your music, don’t drop bangers before people get drunk, and never burn bridges. Its a small, small industry and there’re a lot more DJs who are way better than you.
